The draft opens in your own mail app so you can add a personal note before sending — which reads better than an automated portal email, and is far less likely to be filtered as spam.
The link alone is not enough to reach the documents: the client also has to receive a one-time code at the address on their record. It expires in seven days, and you can issue a new one at any time.
